Winged ants or termites? Keep an identifiable sample
Termite swarmers can be confused with flying ants. The EPA’s identification guidance highlights wing and antenna differences, but a blurred photograph may not show them. Collect a sample in a closed clear container if you can do so safely, and photograph the insect alongside a size reference.
Record where you found it: indoors, on an outside window, near a light or emerging from a particular crack. A few insects at an open window and repeated emergence from the same indoor point are different observations. Neither should be converted into a confident diagnosis without assessment.
